WEGFF honors the legacy of our ancestors by giving back to disenfranchised communities through education, excellence, empowerment, and service.
Our Story
The Willie and Elizabeth Gordon Familv Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization that operates in California, North Carolina and New Jersey.
The Willie & Elizabeth Gordon Family Foundation supports disenfranchised youth between the ages of 8 and 25. This support includes children with cognitive delays or developmental disorders and children living in at-risk environments.
We offer a virtual reading hour for families, local backpack and school supply drives, scholarships and holiday 'Adopt a Family' initiatives.
Back to School Backback Drive
As students return to school, they are often challenged with having the proper tools needed to have a successful start. WEGFF provides
backpacks filled with school supplies for students in Los Angeles, Jersey City and Raleigh/Durham. Each location provides a minimum of 50 backpacks through partnerships with other organizations.
Thanks for Giving Holiday Giveaway
During the holiday season, our charity organizes a giveaway to spread joy and support those in need. We collect various donations, including food, hygiene products, clothing, and toys, and collaborate with local food pantries, shelters, homeless populations, and churches to distribute these gifts. Our aim is to ensure everyone has a reason to be thankful during this special time of the year.
Annual Scholarship Giveaway
Education was of utmost importance to our ancestors and every generation pushed the next to go further than they had gone. As we look back at our ancestral legacy, we started with little to no education and now the family has produced offspring with Bachelors, Masters and Doctorate degrees. What a tribute to the family legacy to give to the next generation in an effort to enhance educational skills.
Virtual
Reading
Events
Our charity hosts a delightful virtual reading event tailored specifically for children. During this interactive and engaging session, young participants get the opportunity to enjoy captivating storytelling by talented readers. This event aims to foster a love for books and literacy while providing a fun and educational experience for children from diverse backgrounds.
